How Tough?
The Blackfin™ Skeg is made from a proprietary high impact composite material featuring two tapered wings on each side for structural reinforcement and lift at every angle of engine trim. The Blackfin also uniquely features a sacrificial node on the bottom, limiting the engine’s skeg from plowing into underwater objects, and designed to turn the engine slightly on side impact for more prop protection.
Blackfin Skeg replacement is warrantied against defects in workmanship for a period of 2 years after purchase. Regarding The Outdoors will repair or replace defective part upon return of defective unit. If unit is lost, proof of purchase must be provided. Warranty does not cover general wear.
Measuring for Fit
To determine the Blackfin model you need, measure from the front of the prop to the tip of the gear housing. Take your horiziontal measurement and match it to the one of the three Blackfin sizes.The Mercruiser Alpha One when measured falls into the medium category; however it will require a Small Blackfin.
